Do you know how old the Dragon Age Awakening crew is? (Minus Anders, as you’ve answered that already)

The only character given a canon age is Nathaniel, but I can share my estimations like from the other games?

Awakening takes place in 9:31 Dragon, so all these ages are per that year.

  • Mhairi – When I couldn’t find anything myself I went to the Wiki, which says that Mhairi was 16 when she joined the Ferelden army, though it doesn’t have any source. We don’t know when she joined, but the game certainly plays her off as a young and naïve type, so I’m guessing she’s somewhere around 20-23.
  • Anders – Anders was taken to the Circle when he was 12. Irving was First Enchanter at the time, meaning this must be sometime after 9:10 Dragon, when he took the position. So, Anders can’t possibly be older than 33 max, probably in the age range of 29-33.
  • Nathaniel – Supposedly Gaider said that Nathaniel is 30 as of 9:31 Dragon, from the old forums.
  • Velanna – There’s not a lot of information to go on for Velanna. All we know from WoTv2 is that she’s two years older than Seranni, and was nine when she discovered her magic and became First to the Keeper. In regards to the humans attacking the clan prior to what leads Velanna to separate from the clan, in a note written by the Keeper, she speaks of Velanna as if she’s still quite young, saying she hopes she’ll gain wisdom with age. I’d guess she’s somewhere between 24-27.
  • Sigrun – Sigrun’s WoTv2 entry is only a page long, in the form of her writing down her life story. There’s no information to even begin to base a guess on, so I am shooting in the dark to put her around the same age as Velanna, 24-27. 
  • Oghren – Oghren is the biggest mystery regarding age, because we don’t really have much for dates to even place things at. But what we do know is that Branka was made a Paragon in 9:10 Dragon, a year after their marriage. Oghren was also fairly young with he married her, likely in his early twenties. This would put his birth year at around 8:86-8:89 Blessed, making him about 42-45 years old.
  • Justice – As a spirit, Justice could be thousands of years old but we just have no idea, LOL.

Confession: I know everyone loves themselves their problematic and angsty characters and romances and I do too, but can we take a second to appreciate the unproblematic blessing that is Iron Bull? I’ve never related to a character as much as him, not only because of the pansexuality. I don’t have a quite as active sex life, but I’m pretty sure even if the game let you be ace in his romance he would just be like “Okay, cool” and still have a bomb relationship with you, I love and relate to how much he just does not care in all the right ways, because what more is there to say about that? He soothes my anxiety and I think it’s amazing how with all the sex and alcohol he looks like the stereotypical barbarian, but he’s actually probably the smartest and calculating person in the whole team, but in the best possible way. What really put the cherry on top for me is his romance in Trespasser though. I’m not a big fan of the idea of getting married or even the concept of marriage, but if my LI asks me to marry them I just say yes because I feel obligated to and because I’m too afraid of what could happen if I said no. The only other romance I made it to Trespasser with was Sera, so I don’t know about the others, but I know that for Bull marriage being purely optional and that he won’t even bring it up without being asked absolutely took the cake for me. Because who needs rings of you can have the tooth of a dragon bind you to someone? I remember being so incredibly happy and it definitely sealed his fate as my go-to romance, especially since I can just play what- and whoever and he wouldn’t care. Another thing I found amazing in Trespasser about him and something else I related to was how unapologetically open he was about being in love, despite not previously being and never being seen as even remotely the romantic type. I love me some nervous dorks but there’s something wholesome in a different way about being confident and relaxed about your feelings and I do it the same way with my boyfriend. Also puns and bearhugs, what else do you even need in life?

TL;DR: Iron Bull is a wholesome hunk that deserves all the love and appreciation for being the unproblematic LI for the problematic player.
