Redcliffe Village Chantry

speaking of DA I took down his card to edit it but this is the 3rd version guys I need to move on with my life
EGG, NO
You’re not gonna fool us, we all know that you are bald nerdy hobo, so get off that poor dog
So i know dwarves born on the surface suffer less effects from the blight and they lose resistance to magic,,,,,would it be too early in the timeline to consider a dwarven mage 🤔
as i understand it (and i could be wrong), orzammar dwarves are unable to use magic because of how their close proximity and handling of lyrium caused them to build up a resistance to it. we know they’re cut off from the fade because they’re unable to cast spells or even dream. they can’t enter the fade unless outside forces pull them in (the sloth demon in kinloch hold and the giant rift in adamant fortress, for example).
so, if extreme exposure to lyrium is what’s blocking the orzammar dwarves from spellcasting, logically i think it would make sense for surface dwarves to eventually lose their magical resistance and potentially open them up to the fade/magic. though i’d assume that it would probably be something to happen through generations of surface dwarves marrying surface dwarves and having their children, you guessed it, on the surface.
unless… (unless?)
we consider the current situation. and the following is almost pure speculation that could be wildly off base. but dai had ferelden and orlais covered in holes connecting the material world to the fade. da4 is almost certainly going to have solas causing even more damage to the veil, if not completely tearing it open at some point. people have long been speculating non-mage elves will regain magical abilities due to this; i wouldn’t put it too far out of the question to say maybe surface dwarves (and other races) will be affected by it too.
all in all, i wouldn’t dismiss the idea immediately, but i also wouldn’t put a lot of stock into it. it would be very cool though, imo.
