Dorian runs a touch over the beard on Vaxus’ face, well-kept and peppered white. “Look what happens when I let you from my sight for a moment. You go and grow this atrocity again. Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed your years with it.” The Archon swallows thickly, voice breaking and bravado falling away. “Is this real? If it isn’t I’m going to be very cross with you, again.”

Vaxus takes Dorian’s hand into his and kisses the knuckles. “I’m here. I’m sorry it took me so long to get back to you.”

1, 7, and 11 for Kaaras?? <3

dickeybbqpit:

1: List five basic facts about your OC

  • Kaaras’ favorite part of being Inquisitor is having access to thousands of texts, lost and archived histories, trinkets, totems, manifestos, hobbies (piano, equestrianism, fencing), and secrets he never would have had access to as a peasant boy.
  • Kaaras is a childhood diabetic, and takes a daily potion to ‘properly siphon the sugar in his veins.’ It’s always kept him on the thinner side, made him struggle to gain weight—particularly before his mother caught suspicion of his drowsiness, sweet breath, and an insatiable appetite that never seemed to glue much meat to his bones. After his mother and Tasaath hauled him to the village healer in the middle of the night as a delirious little boy, ashen and shallow-breathed with horrendous stomach cramps, he monitors himself fairly well diet and exercise-wise. Of course, sometimes symptoms strike regardless of how he manages.
  • Kaaras has the mind for offbeat questions and often treats the world like one very large experiment, and has kept his companions and Josephine awake with his curiosities. “What do you suppose rifts taste like?” “Do you suppose I could condition Cullen to the sound of a bell if I offered him a sweet each time I get him talk about anything besides work?” “If spirits embody emotions, do we embody pursuits? Where does their self-worth come from?” “What sort of person do you think first thought to themselves, ‘Oh, look, a plant with four legs and horns! I’ll bet I can eat it, and maybe … just maybe, I can wear it!’” (“Someone like you.”) “Why is it considered quicksand if you sink so slowly? Not … that I would know … inherently. Just a rumor.”
  • Kaaras specifically befriends those comrades and confidants of people who hold him in disfavor. It’s partially catty, partially serially optimistic.
  • He’s a lucid dreamer. Not a somniari like his daughter, but he’s hyper aware of sensations, feelings, faces, and sounds in his dreams, and he almost always recalls them in vivid detail the next morning. When they became nightmares as a little boy, his mother suggested he start journaling them in the morning to be aware of which pieces of his mind to specifically demand leave him be.

7: Describe your OC’s fashion sense

Loud colors, silken, cozy textures, powerful lines, nothing too tight or wooly around his neck and shoulders.

Tunics are just about the worst possible item to pull over his head if they have a small neck. Horns tend to get in the way, so a top he can tie or button is preferable. During summer and warmer months, he might entirely abstain from a shirt at all. It’s how his qunari parents dressed him—robes, harem pants. They thought nothing of it. It’s only once he’s thrown into a spotlight at all that he thinks robes, wraps, scarves might be more acceptable.

He loves his shiny jewelry when he thinks to wear it, well-made shoes, and eyeliner.

For brief intervals of time, he’s content to be his more fashion-first loved ones’ dress up doll.

He’s sort of stuck in a cultural paradox: South, North, East, Home, Adopted

Mercenary/Post-Inquisition Casual

Herald/Colder Casual

Formal

Inquisitor Battle/Battle Dress

11: What does your OC want for their birthday?

If someone is hellbent on providing him with presents, Kaaras would likely prefer some puzzle piece to his latest obsession: a book on the anatomy of dragons or mythical sea beasts and stories sailors tell of them, a knickknack with sentimental value that he can fiddle with like a music box or an intricately painted top, a meal to satisfy his cravings (though he tries to portion-control.) Kaaras is material-wise attracted to the shiny and eclectic. A little gaudy.

Honestly, he’d love to wake up early, happy, get away with every opportunity to misbehave, go for a morning ride with Josephine somewhere, sit down or run into a game of sorts that spills into a rowdier lunch with an entire assortment of friends, slip away before he has to socialize too much, and spend the evening with his chosen closest learning and doing something he never has with them.
