I was thinking today about Solas and how his approval of you is when you ask him questions and a lot of fandom thinks that this is because Solas is dying for someone to care about what he says and I definitely think there’s some truth to that. However, I also don’t think Solas gives two fucks about what someone thinks of him.
The reason, in my opinion, that Solas likes someone who asks questions is because a rebellious soul asks questions. A person who will change the world does not sit idly by and let everyone tell them how to live, or act or be without questioning it. I think he relates to the inquisitive person and that person gives him hope because they aren’t following something blindly. He sees they have their own values but their willingness to ask questions makes them unique.
This is why I also don’t think he’s being the typical “you’re the chosen one I love you so much” when he says the romanced Inquisitor is unique and special. He is saying they have something that can really change the world just like they have changed his world and given him a more hopeful outlook on the world.
