His companions slipped beyond the shimmering exterior of the looking glass, into the realm beyond to afford us one more moment together.

“I love you,” I told my dearest one for what would certainly be the final time. Kaaras had told me so first in the very beginning of everything we had built together. I found it only fair I take the turn to do so. “More than anything.”

He held me close, and his lips found mine in a tender kiss that melted me. “I love you, too, Josephine.”

He turned, face set in determined lines, strode through the mirror with his head held high, and left me behind.

I Kofi commissioned @nsfwfrosch (thank you btw for being so good and patient with me and diligent) to draw a comic centered around this writing of mine and I’m so incredibly happy with the way it turned out. The emotion they convey in their eyes, the physical movements, the shading. I could gush about this for hours.
