Return to the Ostagar again.
OK, but the facts:
● Cailan had preserved and locked Maric’s f*cking longsword and family shield before the battle. A longsword and a shield, a specific items.
● Cailan had sensed Ostagar battle will be lost, so he gave the key from the chest to his friend, a trusted person and probably had told him to escape from the battle if shit goes bad…
● Cailan commanded that guy to find any remaining Grey Wardens if battle will be lost, actually knowing who will probably survive, give them a key and location to the chest.
● Cailan used his influence as a king to send two Grey Wardens away from the fighting, to the tower of Ishal. He knew that tower is near the exit of the Ostagar fortress, the only safe escape path (the path, Duncan and Warden arrive)
● He didn’t hand the key to Duncan, because a) Duncan would never abandon the battlefield and b) Cailan knew one specific Grey Warden, he exactly wanted to have those items.
In conclusion:
Cailan used everything in his power, to secretly save Alistair’s life and give him acess to their father’s sword and shield, the weapons, Alistair is trained in, so he, as the last living Theirin and one of two living Grey Wardens of Ostagar battle, would kill the Archdemon and end the Blight. Of course his plan would’ve failed because of darkspawn siege in tower, but I believe Flemeth oversaw it too and male Grey Warden surviving was her goal.
Cailan was aware of everything and he believed it was a Blight, in contrary to Loghain. King knew he can’t end it, and his survival would mean, that he had abandoned his people and didn’t do his duty as a king, but he knew his younger half brother has greater chances to end the apocalypse and save everyone, alias to be a true hero, Cailan inspired to be himself.
This man chose death over survival, but did everything so his younger sibling would survive and do right thing.
And that’s why I love him.

non-toxicdragonageconfessions:
Confession: Currently finishing yet another playthrough of Inquisition, and all of a sudden there’s a new room in the undergrounds of Skyhold! You know that huge room that gives you access to the library and the wine cellar? Well, now I have this massive dwarven-looking door and it’s a room full of gold. There’s also the hat you can find when you fall through the cracks of Skyhold. How did I get this room? What easter egg did I miss that lead to this?
You can get the vault by having 3 perks of Josephine’s, they’re Sterling Reputation, A Favor for a Favor and Elite Clientele.

Be Still – This is the creation of a new Era. Hush now – what may be prison for some, can be freedom for many other.
This was a larger work I started ages ago and managed to finally finish it some time ago. I held back from uploading as a dear friend of mine promised a little story coming with it – but unfortunately their job really taking up their time – so a story might follow it some day!
I still very happy the way it turned out even if it took me forever to complete, the background was rather heavy and massive. I learnt a lot and well – dragon age was always among my favourite games!
